History of the 5th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry
Original organizers of the 5th Ray Adkins, Ronnie Bowling, Les Williamson, Danny Wright, Tom Miles and Jon Back are the members whom are still active after the 5th KY was formed 2003. We came from the 6th KY INF which was disbanded. We wanted to be different from other units and needed members from our area.
We decided to allow women and children in our camp and to let Jesus Christ be active in everything we strive to do. We went from being forced to fall in with other units since we were not allowed to be our own company. Well, we have grown by leaps and bounds since our humble beginning. We are now the largest Confederate Infantry Company in the State of Kentucky. We are the best of the best and have earned the respect of every unit we have come into contact with.
